Brazil out of world cup 2022 – Brazil were eliminated from the World Cup on penalties as Croatia held their nerve to advance to the semi-finals.
Croatia defeated Brazil 4-2 on penalties to become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals. Brazil went ahead in extra time thanks to Neymar’s goal, but Bruno Petkovic equalized with just minutes remaining. Croatia won yet again in penalties, securing their place in the last four.
Croatia, beaten finalists four years ago, scored with all four of their spot-kicks, as Rodrygo was denied by the brilliant Dominik Livakovic and Marquinhos’ crucial fourth effort struck the post.
As the ball struck the foot of the woodwork and bounced away, Croatia’s players dashed to celebrate with their goalkeeper, while Brazil’s players collapsed to the ground, knowing their dream was over.
