San Francisco Unicorns Cricket Team MLC is a professional cricket team that plays in the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States. The team was founded in 2023 and is based in San Francisco, California.
The San Francisco Unicorns will be the name of the Bay Area squad, and their team mark’s orange, light blue, and navy blue hues represent the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean, respectively.
A thriving cricket playing culture and ardent cricket fans from many backgrounds can be found in the San Francisco Bay Area. “The Bay Area is home to some extraordinarily gifted people and companies that have revolutionised the world economy. In popular culture, the phrase “Unicorn” has been used to describe individuals or organisations with remarkable talent or potential, whether they be athletes or Silicon Valley startups. Our San Francisco Unicorns have the truly unique opportunity to speak for all Bay Area supporters of the second-largest sport in the world.
In order to prepare the squad for success on the field during the MLC’s debut season, San Francisco has teamed with one of the top cricket organisations in the world, Cricket Victoria in Australia. Representatives from Cricket Victoria will be present at the MLC Player Draft to help assemble a talented team for the Unicorns in advance of the league’s inaugural season.
Despite the fact that San Francisco will not host home games in the 2023 campaign, MLC and the Unicorns intend to construct a top-notch facility for the team in the Bay Area. In collaboration with Santa Clara County, feasibility studies for a development on a 14-acre property on the Santa Clara Fairgrounds in San José are currently under progress.
Major international cricket competitions could be held in the stadium, which could accommodate 6,000 spectators. Modern training facilities, locker rooms, luxurious suites, designated parking, and an international-grade pitch that will be accredited by the International Cricket Council are also planned for the complex.
